Opis

Garden amaranthus maroon seeds for dried flowers

Garden amaranthus (Amaranthus caudatus) is an annual plant distinguished by its large, showy inflorescences in shades of red. Its long, hanging flowers are great for drying, retaining their intense colors and appearance for many months. Garden amaranth is perfect for dried bouquets, garlands and other floral compositions.

Amaranthus cultivation

  • Sowing: sow seeds of amaranth in April, preferably in pots, seed trays or seedpods, under cover in a greenhouse or plastic tunnel. Sow directly into the ground in May.
  • Substrate: This plant prefers a light, permeable substrate. Sow seeds on the surface of the soil, pressing them lightly, as they require light to germinate.
  • Germination: For rapid germination, keep the temperature between 15-18°C and the soil moist.
  • Quilting: When the seedlings have produced their first leaves, quilt them into separate pots.
  • Planting into a permanent place: Once the risk of frost has passed (in May), the plants can be transplanted into the garden or larger pots to sunny positions with well-drained soil. Amaranth prefers moderately moist and well-sunny soils.

Amaranthus blooms from July to September, offering beautiful, showy inflorescences that are perfect for drying and creating unusual floral compositions.
