Lagurus Ovatus - an ornamental grass.

Lagurus is a plant of the panicle family (Poaceae). The ornamental grass is an annual or biennial. Its name is derived from the combination of the Greek words logos and cura, meaning hare and tail, all due to the delicate and soft to the touch panicles, which resemble hare's bunny tails.

Bunny tails - appearance and characteristics of the plant

Lagurus grows from 40-60cm depending on the species of soil and conditions. It has narrow, gray-green leaves and a panicled, soft beige-silver flower, which is responsible for the association in hare's tail. It owes its silvery hue to the fine hairs with which the lagurus is covered. When dried, lagurus retains its natural oval shape and color.

Lagurus strangler cultivation and origin

Lagurus is indigenous to the Mediterranean and the western European Atlantic coast. Currently, we can find it on every continent, where it is successfully cultivated. In Poland, we can most often find it in cultivation as a species of ornamental grass or in wasteland, as it is a ruderal plant.

Cultivation of the bunny tails bollworm is very simple. Lagurus likes sunny positions and not very fertile, sandy soils. Flowering time is from May to August. Seeds can be sown directly into the ground. Lagurus is an extremely expansive plant, it spreads very easily in the garden.

How to use lagurus? With what to compose dried lagurus?

Lagurus bouquet is definitely No. 1 among dried ornamental grasses. It will be great in bouquets of dried flowers, reeds, compositions, garlands. Because of its beige color, it will add an idyllic atmosphere to many a room. Not only among dried flowers lagurus looks beautiful - it will be a great, delicate accent in bouquets of live plants. Most often it is pawned with dried flax, dried phalaris, stabilized eucalyptus. Because of the wide range of colors, bumpkins are suitable for handicrafts and decorations in any season.
