Gomphrena
Dried globular gomphrena has small, spherical inflorescences occurring naturally in numerous colors. It is an extremely durable dried flower that is resistant to crushing and dropping. The dried evening primrose on offer at Secca comes from Polish cultivation.

Gomphrena
The globular gomphrena (Gomphrena globosa) known as the globular evening primrose comes from the amaranth family and is an annual plant. Gomphrena is native to tropical Central America and is where it is found growing wild. It is valued for its health properties and aesthetic qualities. In Poland, we will meet the globular evening primrose only in home gardens and flowerbeds, which it decorates beautifully. The dried flowers are great for dry bouquets, as they do not lose their color and are extremely durable.
Gomphrena - plant characteristics
It has long, egg-shaped, lanceolate, dark green leaves. On stiff, bushy stems are numerous, small spherical inflorescences resembling dry scales. Spherical gomphrena counts nearly 70 varieties, which differ not only in flower color (the most common are white, pink, purple, red flowers), but also in the height of the clumps. Evening primrose grows from 15 to 60cm depending on the species
Gomphrena - occurance & cultivation
The homeland of gomphrena is Panama and Guatemala. Growing wild, it can be found practically throughout the tropics. Evening primrose likes a sunny position, sheltered from violent gusts of wind. The soil should be slightly permeable, fertile, humus. The best time to sow gomphrena is May - preferably the second half, to avoid possible frosts. The plant blooms just a few weeks after sowing. Gomphrena is grown mainly for dry bouquets, because even after drying it does not lose its color or shape, which is a great advantage. The plant has high resistance to fungal diseases and pests.

Gomfrena kulista jest ceniona w medycynie naturalnej. Jest bogatym źródłem witaminy A, witaminy E, selenu i żelaza. Napary z wiecznika łagodzą takie dolegliwości jak: zapalenie oskrzeli, problemy z układem moczowym czy pokarmowym. Herbata z gomfreny łagodzi stres, pomaga w zasypianiu, świetnie reguluje ciśnienie krwi. Należy pamiętać, że nie jest wskazana dla kobiet w ciąży, w połogu lub karmiących piersią.

Its intense color goes well with mild shades of green or with classic white. Gomfrene will find its way into any interior from modern to vintage.
